In 1968 the artist Donald Judd bought this cast iron building for $70,000. He turned it into a house for his family.

Hello from 101 Spring Street. This is Donald Judd’s house, and I’m here on a visit with the Columns Club.
Located on the corner of Spring and Mercer, it’s the only remaining single-use cast iron building in Manhattan. It’s been restored and kept intact after his death. The whole building is basically a private museum to him now. Donald Judd was a minimalist, but he hated that term…
