My Review and Tips For Visiting the St. Regis in Puerto Rico

Hot tip: Visit the “secret” locals-only restaurant right near the entrance of the St Regis Bahia Beach Resort near San Juan, Puerto Rico.

As you are driving into the property and about to turn off the highway, look for El Verde BBQ. Order the chicken and the plantains.

Introduction

Hi! My name is Nick. The St Regis Bahia Beach Resort is my favorite hotel in the Caribbean. I’ve stayed here a few times and these are my notes.

White guy (me) wearing a cowboy hat, black long-sleeve shirt, and shorts sitting in a chair on the beach in the shade Me lounging at the “hidden beach” area at the St Regis Bahia Beach Resort. Email me if you want to know where it is!

History of The Standard East Village Hotel

I recently stayed at The Standard East Village Hotel in New York City. This is one of my favorite hotel brands. Related: see my review of The Standard High Line.

But I felt as if I was let down by The Standard East Village. The lobby was great, but the rooms seemed off-brand. Different from all the others I have stayed at (LA, Miami, High Line). I decided to do some research into how this location was acquired by The Standard.

the standard has an arresting outline The Standard East Village Hotel is located off Cooper Square in NYC.

Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico-Mexico City

I really like the floor to ceiling mirrors and the staircases.  The ceilings seem very high and the art deco finishing such as the rococo touches around the banisters, the metal handrails for the stairs and the extremely elaborate and fancy old style elevators plus what looks like a museum quality huge table in the lobby.  All of these things stick out to me, but they are contrasted by terrible lighting.   It appears that they have replaced a lot of their lights with LED bulbs which give off a very harsh white light, not like a soft old world romantic feeling.

Room Mate Valencia Hotel in Mexico City

Greetings from Mexico City!

I booked my stay at the Valencia on hotels tonight and paid around $68.

My first impression coming into the room was that it looked like what I would imagine a Tokoyo love hotel would look like, not that I would know.

I really did not like this hotel, and I tried to get out of there as soon as possible. Low ceilings and I just don’t like the colors.

Hotel Room Review: Cosmopolitan Hotel Toronto

I paid $122 total for this room on Dec 5, 2016 ($99 rate on Hotel Tonight plus $23 taxes and fees). It was a large suite-style room, more like an apartment, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, washer dryer, etc. I might return. Would rate the experience 6/10.
