Lightscale Labs Review: Marijuana Testing in Portland, Oregon

Last updated: February 24, 2023

Lightscale Labs, founded by my friend Justin Ouellette, is a company that provides scientific medical-grade testing for cannabis products.

They use “science, technology, and design to make cannabis testing simple and reliable.”

I visited their offices to take a tour during a trip to Portland, Oregon in June 2019. Here are some of the things that I saw.

This is the outside of the office building.

Welcome and Reception

The office has a modern look and feel with very chic design. There is a full lobby and receptionist when you first enter (not pictured).

Because I was a visitor, I had to sign in and wear a visitor’s badge.

I’m not proud of this picture: my outfit looks a lot frumpier than normal. But, hey, here’s me and the logo sign!

This brochure is available inside the lobby of the HQ building.

Introducing Terpenes, a brochure from Lightscale Labs

It says:

Terpenes are natural compounds produced by many plants that strongly influence their taste and smell. In cannabis, terpenes also play an important role in defining the mental and physical effects that characterize each individual strain. Over 120 different percents are known to occur in cannabis. Here are nine of the 22 we currently profile at Lightscale Labs:

It then goes on to list Myrcene, Caryophyllene, Pinene, Linalool, Limonene, Humulene, Ocimene, Bisabolol, and Terpineol.

Various complicated devices are stationed around the facility to assist with the testing procedures.
