East Shore Productions - Living in Style

Just a warning: If your business gets a call from East Shore Productions offering to feature your company on their Living in Style television program, hang up. Dennis D'Agosta will give you a 20-minute sales pitch and then ask you to pay $19,000 to produce a TV segment about your business.

I am posting this in the hopes of saving someone the time. East Shore Productions uses the number 561-995-5352 for their call-backs.

Update 12/10/2009 - This company is also calling from the number (561) 995-5352 (Sally) for the program "A Parent's Guide to Survival."

Comments:
I have to say that our experience with Living In Style was the opposite. East Shore Productions did a great job representing our company on their show and we would do it all again in a heartbeat. By the way our cost was WAY below your quoted price of $19,000. I would definitely recommend East Shore Productions.

I think who ever left the 1st comment obviously works for East Shore...They and every company like them are a rip off!!

I had my face machine on the show , now I have national
distribution..they are very picky about who is invited onto the show.My guess is some one wanted to be on and was told no go (sour grapes)I payed 5,900$ to be in 90 million homes...no one can reach that daytime and own footage for 5,900 $ are you kidding me.I am trying to be on again with a new product...

Every time I post something through the PRweb news service I get a call from these turkeys. They are not picky with who they choose. Their tactics are hilarious. They tailor their sales pitch to your product no mater what it is. Wish they would stop calling.

I just got a call from the same guy. Thank you so much for saving me the time.

I was contacted today by Raymond at Living in Style. He pitched the show as a “Health” program for the upcoming Christmas Holiday season.

He said they had researched my company, http://www.CrabtreeHandbags.com, and said it was a unique way to sell my products…which he didn’t really know anything about. Also, he said we were in the “running” with other companies, and if we “won” we could appear in thousands of households.

Then he came up with the $5,900 fee and our line went dead..literally! I was in a bad spot and lost contact, but I’m sure he took it as me hanging up on him!

I’m grateful for this blog, as this is the second Florida-based company to reach out to me with a large upfront fee. The other is Home Shopping Group. While researching this other company, I found past clients who were not associated with them anymore and who did not recommend them.

Thanks to all who take the time to help others on this blog.

These guys are total scam artists, what a waste of time. I am so glad your blog was here, I did a quick google search for their show name and found this and hung up on her.

Good posts...Got a pitch call which was clearly a scam from East Coast Productions aka Home Shopping Group 561-352-1343. They said they "choose" who will be "presented" to their Executive Producer named John Daily [sic]...but as soon as I asked more about the credentials of the production team they quickly said it was best if they skip my company. Such crap...they need content and they are charging you for airtime....DON'T FALL FOR IT... Go YouTube and you'll be better off and won't have to take their hands out of your pocket.!! This scam stuff makes my blood boil....If only all the energy that was channeled into ripping off trusting victims was put towards something good...PLEASE PASS IT ON...

thank-you so much for the information. I just received a message from them and looked up the number on google. I also just released an article on PRWEB. So, now I know.

I have to agree with this thread. After posting on PRWire we were contacted to feature on their Christmas show a couple of years ago. The problem we have with them is that their contract is deceptive. It states that you will get exposure

"...through a combination of any or all of the following affiliates of ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, FOX and targeted National cable networks"

You have to be careful about the words "any or all" above. In truth, the only network their Christmas show aired on was PAX (now called ION). Further, just because you may have a PAX/ION station in your area, they may not show it. We were told the show aired on our local PAX station on a given date at a certain time. We have cable TV, and were watching at that time, but it did not air. After contacting East Shore about it, they said that the station may broadcast one program for their "over the airwaves" audience, while broadcasting another one for their cable or satellite audience.

If I knew then what I know now, I would require that they specifically name each network that the show WILL appear on, not use the 'any or all' wording above, when they knew they had no intention of broadcasting on the major ones. Also get their guaranteed broadcast schedule IN ADVANCE. They will not want to give it to you for a good reason.

Better yet, just hang up on them and tell them to get lost.

I just received a call from them this morning. I almost fell for it. They wanted $5900. I talked it over with my wife whose friends suggested that it was a scam. She said anyone who wanted to do a news worthy show would not charge for it, especially if they solicit you, which they did. Same experience....we put out a PRWEB release and they want to capitalize on the vulnerability of a startup trying to find their way.

After talking to my wife, I Googled Living In Style, and thankfully I found their posting.

I agree with the comment for publicity....stick with You Tube.

Hope this helps someone else. Don't fall for Living In Style solicitations.

thank you for these posts - I found them while I was on the phone with the woman who was asking for info....cut the call short...if I put up $5,900 I'll be assuring them I am serious about their deadlines...um, yeah

"Sally Merando" called me yesterday about a show called, "i gotta have THAT!" They wanted $5900 to assure I would meet their deadlines. There is nothing in a google search about their show! When I talked to them today I asked if they were even a real show and the one lady admitted it was their first airing. Then the next lady insisted that they have had many shows! But when I asked her to name one she totally started fumbling then changed the subject! I had found this blog last night and so I asked them what the name of their parent company is and they said "West Media Productions" but when I google that there is nothing.

Thanks for saving me the time. They called me and I told them that they sounded like a scam and that I needed to research first! Anything that sounds this good has to have some issue. Get get what you pay for... that has not changed. THANK YOU!!!!!

Very glad you posted this blog. I had my suspicions. I will say though that Ramon told me right up front exactly who they were and what they did. He didn't want to waste the Doctor's time thinking that they were traditional media. I think it may not be a bad investment as long as you know everything involved - but probably not the best use of $5,900.

My contract said $3900. After looking at the films they produce, I think that the idea is impressive. The problem is that the caller didn't make it clear from the start that it was an informercial sales pitch. You feel completely snowed & this kind of thing really hits below the belt--making people feel more important than they really are. Then, when you float back down from the ceiling, you have to ask yourself if your company is tiny, like mine: why would they be interested in me? And what are the benefits really? Shouldn't I be seeking distribution channels instead of doing a lot of PR? I wrote a press release & I see now that it wasn't worth it.

This was the voicemail I got this morning after we issued a press release through PR Web. As transcribed by Google Voice.

Hi, Good morning. This message is for XXXXX, this is Ramone, Shivonne I'm one of the producers for the national educational television show living in style. I'm currently working on educational segments unsettled innovative online health and fitness solutions for spring show. My colleague in the research department gave me information. He said you had a website that was quite unique connect. However, there is a selection process on our end and I really just had a couple of questions and maybe one or two concerns but feel free to contact me directly. I'm at (561) 995-5352 the extension is 133 again. That's (561) 995-5352 and the extension is 133. Take care and have a really nice afternoon.

I called back and the cost to create the infomercial is $3,900.

We also got a call from the Home Shopping Network, again as transcribed by Google Voice...

I do believe I left a message for you about a month or so ago and have not heard back from anyone just yet. Point to reach out once again final attempt here, indicating P that we do have an interest in seeing if there's any way that we can purchase product from you or your services and resell them back to the consumer 74, foot Jessica, retail, which would be to our direct response television commercials from the entire U. S. And eventually going into Canada and have a mention the forces kind of a little bit of a recap, but maybe you did not receive that message. We have an interest, but of course we have lots of questions and concerns would like to discuss with you directly before we wanna make any work and that's been here so feel free to give me a ring at your earliest convenience. My number best way of reaching me is 561 241 4949, my direct extension is 111 and again it's, Vanessa Gomez senior buyer from home shopping group. At (561) 241-4949 extension 111. Hope all is well and I look forward to speaking with you soon. Take care bye bye.

When you research this company you see all kinds of very negative responses. I spoke to Vanessa Gomez in person and she is seriously hard sell.

The call scripts these people use are very similar and I wonder if they are somehow linked.

It seems to me that all of these companies offering these type of "great" deals are based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Most of the calls I got after using PR Web came from companies just like this....

My advice - do not even return the call.
