2 commentsThe new issue of Vimeo launched today. It features a new full-screen video option, fully re-designed movie player, and lots more gadgets. From their home page:
Use Vimeo to exchange videos with only the people you want to. We have a bunch of different privacy options so you can choose exactly who can see your videos, and others can do the same.
I host lots and lots of my own videos on Vimeo.

In March of 2005, I interviewed my friend Jakob Lodwick about Vimeo. Back then, the site was mainly focused on computer-generated entertainment.
Jakob- I will tell you a goal of mine: To teach Vimeo to make Automatic Movies that are better than freshmen film school projects. I guess it's sort of a cinematic Turing test.
Hey, I'd rather watch Vimeo any day! I love the site and if you want to share video clips with your friends, go sign up.
I am selling a lot of CompactFlash cards on eBay (aka CF cards, Compact Flash). These are very high-quality cards at a very low price.
You can read a review of 1GB CompactFlash cards to see that Transcend makes good, fast media.
Update: I re-listed the SanDisk cards for $8. This is an exceptional deal!
Here are some video clips that I shot in Switzerland and recently posted on Vimeo. I put the descriptions on top. If you are reading this blog through an RSS reader and can't see the embedded videos, just look at these.
Zurich Arrival and Johann - My first day in Switzerland. I met Johann through Vimeo and he showed me around the city.
My Bed at City Hostel Geneva - Second day in Switzerland. I stayed here for three nights.
Couch Surfing in Lausanne - This was so much fun! Later that night I went to a cool music festival.
One Minute of Bern, Switzerland - This was my next stop. I was only in the city for about 30 hours, but I think that was enough. Very pretty.
Walking to the Waterfalls near Lauterbrunnen - I stayed in Lauterbrunnen for three or four days. It snowed two of those days! But on the last day it was beautiful weather.
Trümmelbach Falls in Switzerland - These were VERY impressive. I only taped about four of the falls; in total there were about a dozen. Amazing Swiss engineering throughout the cave complex.
Those are the best ones. You can see all ten or eleven of my video clips from Switzerland on Vimeo.
Can you help me? I am trying to find a place to purchase Steel Cut Oats in India. Preferably near Mumbai (Bombay).
Please email me if you know of a supplier or retail purchase point. Steel-cut oats are also called pinhead oats, Scotch oats, Irish oats, and coarse-cut oats.
Previously, I blogged about my oats and whey diet. I am still quite infatuated with this dietary staple.
I am back home in Atlanta. I will share video samples soon from the four gigabytes of media that I captured on my two week trip around Switzerland.
Interesting note... On both flights to and from Zurich, someone on my flight had a medical emergency.
On the way to Zurich, a baby boy was screaming in pain. His eardrums would not adjust. A special announcement was displayed on the cabin entertainment system that said, "If there is a doctor on this airplane, please notify a flight attendant. There is a medical emergency on-board."
It was pretty scary because we were in the middle of the ocean. But I was so excited to see the in-flight entertainment system used in such a public service function.
Thankfully there were doctors who helped the baby and everything worked out OK.
Now, on the return flight from Zurich to Atlanta... As we were taxiing to the runway... The engines are warming up... And suddenly someone gets on the intercom and yells, "Code red! Flight attendants, first class! Code red!"
Then several people ran up the aisles and into first class. This was a very tense situation for all onboard - what was happening?!
Our plane turned around and returned to the gate. We later found out that a flight attendant had a nervous breakdown, passed out while serving beverages, and stopped breathing. She was taken to a hospital and we flew back to Atlanta.
I ate a lot of bread, cheese, and even some sweets in Switzerland. Forgive me, for I have committed many dietary sins. Glad to be home and back in my regular schedule for a few more weeks.
