- Last Wednesday morning I had my favorite breakfast - steak and eggs and hashbrowns at IHOP. The waitress, a bubbly 60 year-old, told me that I had the personality to make a lot of money as a server at IHOP. Best compliment I have gotten in a while.
- Later that night I flew to New York City to spend a long weekend in Manhattan with friends. The first thing I noticed after I arrived was the very deep bass of an approaching subway car. We do not have sounds like that in the suburbs.
- My flight on Delta Airlines was great. $190 ATL to JFK, no hassles.
- Zach's friend Youngna, who I saw at a party on Saturday night, said that great photographers really are masters of light. She works at Corbis now and sees a lot of great, time-tested photos.
- Earlier in the day (Saturday) I went skiing with Zach and Casey at Hunter Mountain. Zach had been there before and showed us around (with the exception of the White Cloud lane, avoid at all costs). It was a blast and super-cheap: Only $90 for the whole bus, lift pass and ski rental package.
- The next bullet point is about sharing moments with groups of strangers.
- This morning I saw a huge man come into Waffle House and blurt out his omelette order. He ordered a Diet Coke, and then the waiter said their Diet Coke fountain was broken, the guy yelled "Sorry!" and literally RAN out of the restaurant. Everybody was perplexed and laughed - we shared a great group moment between all of the early morning strangers in the restaurant.
- Anyone know of a book suggestion engine (besides Amazon) similar to Pandora for music? Books (etc) We Like is the best I have found.
- Thanks to my hosts for a good weekend, and sorry for anyone that my schedule missed.
- One last thing - We have a new woman at the office, Mindy. She has been here for a week and is like an administrative assistant. Mindy knows enough about our business now to use some jargon and follow along in conversations. One of her roles is to follow-up on To-Do and task lists that we commit to during meetings. This means that part of her job is to bug people about things they do not wish to work on. As annoying and frustrating as it might be to have someone who only knows a little bit about our jobs telling us what to do, we think that it will help move the company forward.
I guess I better go, I've got a huge list of things to do - more than half of which aren't fun at all!
