My Polish grandparents are in town from Cleveland this week. They are talking on Skype to my cousin Kasia in Geneva as I type this. The conversation is entirely in Polish and my grandfather is speaking faster than I've ever heard. He's always had a little trouble with English; old age doesn't improve your language skills, but today he is shining.
This is the first time I have been around my grandmother speaking fluent, conversational Polish. My mother talked about it but I have never heard. (My grandmother's English is great, so she tends to use it exclusively.)
"The quality is so good!" my grandfather keeps saying.
We took our picture on my cell phone and e-mailed it to Kasia.
